Ministry of Earth Sciences Secretary M. Ravichandran on Friday. Highlighted the importance of creating a map showing where we can find geothermal energy, urging more surveys to find these resources. He suggested starting a small project to demonstrate how effective geothermal energy can be. At a meeting about geothermal energy, he stressed the need for collaboration between different groups like research institutes, state organizations, and industries.
Oil India Chairman and Managing Director Ranjith Rath suggested using old deep bore wells, originally drilled for oil and gas, to tap into geothermal energy. He also proposed setting up a committee to speed up geothermal projects.
ONGC-Energy Centre Director General Ravi talked about recent efforts in Ladakh and plans to build deep wells that can generate 1 MW of energy.
Various experts, including CSIR-NGRI Director Prakash Kumar, chief scientist Abehy Ram Bansal, and others, participated in the meeting.
