The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has made an exciting announcement: the second set of scientific data from the Aditya-L1 solar mission is now available. This mission, which studies our Sun, provides important information about its layers, including the photosphere, chromosphere, and outer atmosphere called the corona. Additionally, the data includes measurements of particles and magnetic fields at the first Earth-Sun Lagrange Point, known as L1.
For those interested in accessing this valuable data, it can be found on the Indian Space Science Data Centre (ISSDC) website. To get the Aditya-L1 data, visit ISSDC’s Aditya-L1 page and look for the data download section. You can also go directly to the PRADAN portal using these links: PRADAN Portal 1 or PRADAN Portal 2.
ISRO encourages researchers and students to use these datasets for their studies and projects. To help users understand how to analyze the Aditya-L1 data, user manuals are also available on the website after registration.
This is not the first time data has been released from the Aditya-L1 mission. The first set of datasets was made public on January 6, 2024, during a national meeting that celebrated the mission’s progress. Currently, Aditya-L1 is in its third orbit around Lagrange Point L1, where it continuously observes the Sun.
The Aditya-L1 mission is an important project for ISRO. Launched on September 2, 2023, aboard the PSLV C-57 rocket, it aims to deepen our understanding of solar activities and their impacts on space weather. The L1 point, where the spacecraft is located, is about 1.5 million kilometers from Earth towards the Sun, making it an ideal spot for solar observation.
With this latest release of data, ISRO hopes to inspire more exploration and research into the mysteries of the Sun and its effects on our planet.
