Hyderabad and many other areas of the state are seeing a severe heat wave, with temperatures significantly rising above average.
Hyderabad saw a temperature increase to 43 degrees Celsius on Thursday, and nine districts in the state had highs of 45 degrees Celsius, signifying extreme heat.
An orange notice has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for Hyderabad, alerting locals to the increasing temperatures. In addition, a red alert is in effect for portions of Suryapet, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Jagtial, and Adilabad on Friday due to highs forecast to reach 45 degrees Celsius.
Hyderabad is expected to see even hotter weather over the course of the next five days, with an average maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius projected. This extended heat wave is probably going to have a big effect on many areas.
The city saw a sharp increase in temperature on Thursday; by 11 am, most places had recorded maximum temperatures of above 40 degrees Celsius.
The city was enveloped in a searing heat wave by lunchtime, with Chandanagar recording the maximum temperature of 42.8 degrees Celsius. There have also been reports of temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius in other places, including Rajendrangar, Rein Bazar, Vittalvadi, Nagole, and Ziaguda.

The IMD predicts that in the upcoming days, rains may occur throughout the state, including Hyderabad, despite the extreme heat. For Hyderabad throughout the weekend, partly overcast skies are predicted along with the possibility of thunder and lightning. In addition, Monday should provide some respite with partly overcast skies and a potential of thunderstorms or heavy rain.
