In order to lessen reliance on foreign components, the Union government unveiled a paracetamol medication that was developed domestically by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
According to Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, this innovation aspires to make India self-reliant in the production of paracetamol, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” program.
The minister went on to explain that CSIR has created its own technology to manufacture paracetamol, a common fever and pain treatment. The essential raw ingredients for paracetamol are now imported by India from a number of nations.
Satya Deeptha Pharmaceuticals, based in Karnataka, will use this innovation to manufacture reasonably priced paracetamol in the country.
“India’s first indigenously created antibiotic, Nafithromycin, has been designed to treat both atypical and typical drug-resistant bacteria,” Dr. Singh stated.
On their 40th Foundation Day, the minister also praised the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) staff. 16 further technology transfers were made on the DSIR Foundation Day: 6 from CSIR-CEERI, Pilani, and 9 from CSIR-CSIO Chennai.
While CEERI transfers focus on healthcare and societal ramifications, CSIO transfers focus on the design and development of scientific and industrial equipment with IoT enabled technologies. CSIO and ELCIA, Bengaluru have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together on sensor development.
Speaking on the speed at which India has advanced technologically over the last ten years, Dr. Jitendra Singh gave praise to Prime Minister Modi’s visionary leadership, arguing that he has been a champion of technology growth and has used its potential for the good of the nation.
Dr. Singh emphasized that it is past time for us to start looking for non-government funding sources for innovation in addition to knowledge partnerships and resource sharing.
The Indian government’s Principal Scientific Advisor, Professor AK Sood, emphasized the importance of transforming our nation into a product-based economy.
