Participants in the programme are also involved in creating unique 3D art pieces using white cement. Under the careful guidance of rehabilitation professionals Snehalatha and Mary, the participants learn to prepare a range of food items, from simple teas and coffees to more complex snacks like cheese and peanut sandwiches, cupcakes, cooled cakes, biscuits, chocolates, and salads. Each product, crafted with care and precision, is sold for a nominal fee, exemplifying the practical application of their training. “One piece is 10 rupees,” explains the instructor, highlighting the affordability and accessibility of the products to visitors and staff.
The workstation is well-equipped with modern appliances, including a popcorn machine donated by a generous benefactor, which adds a layer of excitement and real-world application to the training. The setup mimics a typical culinary environment, giving participants a realistic feel of working in a food service venue.
The goal of this programme is multifaceted: to empower participants by improving their culinary skills, to enhance their confidence through productive work, and to integrate them more fully into community and work settings. Under the watchful guidance of Jagdish, the group excels in producing items that blend functionality with aesthetic appeal. One standout item is a small flower vase, designed to capture the eye and enhance any table it adorns. “By seeing it, it really attracts the individual, ensuring more sales,” explains a senior faculty member, highlighting the market-driven approach of their creations.
Utilizing rubber moulds, the programme allows participants to produce intricate items with ease, catering to a growing market interest.
“These products have more market demand, and supply is there,” notes the faculty, underscoring the economic rationale behind their training modules. An example of their innovative work includes a decorative frame, featuring a ring encased in canvas and adorned with hand-painted designs, demonstrating the unique artistic talents of the participants.
Products like flower vases and decorative candles are particularly popular, demonstrating the competitive quality and appeal of the items produced. The items created, ranging from decorative photo frames to complex art pieces, are not only expressions of creativity but also a source of income.

“Any individual if you want to engage them into a scheduled activity or vocational activity, the focus point is required; they should concentrate on undertaking the activity,” the instructor told NSH.
The production process is meticulously organized to maximize efficiency and output. From drawing and pasting to colouring, moulding, pouring, and cleaning, each step is sequenced to ensure smooth operation and high-quality results. The use of tools like stapling guns and the careful application of canvases illustrates the level of professional training provided.
“So easily double the margin will be there, double the profit will be there,” the instructor proudly stated, emphasizing the economic benefits.
