Few categories of laboratory equipment have absorbed as much digital-compliance pressure in recent years as the analytical balance, and Sartorius’s four-tier weighing range at Smart Labtech’s booth traces that evolution in a single product family — from a straightforward, dependable bench balance to a fully networked data-integrity platform built for regulated environments.
At the entry point sits the Entris® II series, split between Essential and Advanced lines. Both cover a load range between 60 g and 12,200 g with readability from 0.1 mg to 1 g, and both build in isoCAL — Sartorius’s automatic internal calibration and adjustment routine — alongside LED touch technology and twelve built-in application programs. The Essential line runs on single-password protection; the Advanced line adds real-time level support, integrated protection systems, a CalAuditTrail, a graphic touch display, thirteen application programs, and multiple-password protection for labs that need more than one authorized operator with distinct access levels. Sartorius markets the line around “no middleware, no hidden costs” — direct PC integration without a software layer standing between the balance and the record.
One step up, the Quintix® Pro balances handle a narrower load range — 120 g to 1,500 g, with readability of either 0.1 mg or 1 mg depending on model — but add a 7-inch high-resolution full-touch graphic display, optional internal motorized levelling, fifteen integrated application programs for common weighing tasks, and user management for up to 1,000 individual logins. It is the balance Sartorius positions for labs that have outgrown single-operator instruments but don’t yet need the full audit infrastructure of the Cubis line.
That infrastructure arrives with Cubis® II, which extends the load range dramatically — 2.1 g to 70 kg, with readability as fine as 0.1 µg — and pairs it with full end-to-end data integrity: 21 CFR Part 11 compliance, an integrated audit trail, electronic signatures, and adherence to ALCOA+ principles throughout. User management includes centralized password administration with single-sign-on support via LDAP, configurable security rules, and a guided software workflow for routine and deep cleaning — a detail that matters more than it might sound, since cleaning validation is itself an audit point in many regulated labs.
At the top of the range, Cubis® III carries the same 2.1 g–70 kg span and sub-microgram readability but adds what Sartorius calls on-instrument workflows: direct LIMS, ELN and MES connectivity, open interfaces, tap-to-sign traceability with local or centralized user management, RFID one-tap login, and support for up to 10,000 individual users. Audit trails are continuous and long-term archiving follows the PDF/A standard; pharmacopeial weighing guidance is built into the instrument itself, alongside automatic levelling, a built-in ionizer, guided calibration, and hands-free motion controls for gloved or contamination-sensitive operation.
Read across the four tiers, the range tells a coherent story: the same core measurement technology, scaled deliberately from a single-user bench instrument to an enterprise system designed to sit inside a lab’s existing digital infrastructure rather than beside it. For labs currently weighing the cost of moving toward full data-integrity compliance, seeing all four tiers side by side at one booth — rather than across separate vendor visits — is likely to be the more useful comparison than any single spec sheet.
Sartorius’s full balance range will be on display and available for live demonstration at Smart Labtech’s booth, Hall-1 C-01, throughout analytica Lab India 2026, September 10–12 at HITEX Hyderabad.
