A new supply center for research consumables has opened at the Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) in Uppal, Hyderabad. This center, established by Thermo Fisher Scientific, aims to provide essential chemicals and materials needed for life science research, making it easier and faster for researchers to access the tools they need.
The opening ceremony was led by Dr. Vinay Kumar Nandicoori, the director of CCMB, who highlighted the importance of this supply center in reducing the time researchers usually spend waiting for essential items, like enzymes. He stated, “This center will be good for the entire ecosystem, as procuring these items can often be cumbersome.”
Dr. Jayabharath Reddy, director at Thermo Fisher, spoke about the center’s role in supporting scientific innovation. He noted that researchers often faced long delays when ordering specialized consumables. The new center will keep these vital materials on campus, allowing researchers to make quicker scientific breakthroughs.
The center is situated next to Thermo Fisher’s Centre for Innovation (CFI) at AIC-CCMB, which focuses on encouraging collaboration and advancing studies in life sciences. In addition to the supply center, AIC-CCMB and Thermo Fisher are hosting a three-day workshop on “Cell Health Analysis.” This workshop aims to enhance researchers’ technical skills in cell-based assays, which are crucial for developing treatments for diseases like cancer.
“This hands-on workshop will provide researchers with advanced tools and techniques,” added N. Madhusudana Rao, CEO of AIC-CCMB.
The opening of this supply center marks a significant step forward for researchers in Hyderabad and surrounding institutions, promising to make scientific research more efficient and effective.
