In a remarkable achievement, Koteswara Rao, a retired mechanical engineer from Ongole, Prakasam District, has designed and developed a multipurpose robot that is set to transform the farming landscape. This innovative device, designed to tackle the challenges of natural farming, has the potential to increase crop yields, reduce labor costs, and make farming more efficient.
Rao’s journey into farming began when he took up natural farming on his 50-acre land in Konakanamitla mandal, Chinarikat. Despite the challenging terrain, with soil composed largely of stones, Rao persevered and successfully harvested various crops. However, he soon realized that the traditional farming methods were not only labor-intensive but also time-consuming.
To address these challenges, Rao drew upon his mechanical engineering expertise to design a robot that could perform multiple tasks, including plowing, seeding, weeding, mowing, and spraying pesticides. The robot, powered by solar energy, can be controlled remotely, eliminating the need for manual labour.
What’s more impressive is that Rao has designed the robot to be adaptable to different field conditions and crops. The device’s height and width can be adjusted according to the specific requirements of the field, making it a versatile solution for farmers.
Rao’s innovative robot has been designed at an affordable cost of Rs. 3 lakhs, making it accessible to farmers across the country. However, Rao is not resting on his laurels. He plans to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology into the robot, enabling it to perform tasks autonomously without the need for remote control.
This revolutionary robot has the potential to transform the farming sector, making it more efficient, productive, and sustainable. Rao’s innovative solution is a testament to the power of human ingenuity and the impact that individuals can have on their communities.
As we look to the future of farming, Rao’s robot is certainly a game-changer. With its potential to increase crop yields, reduce labor costs, and promote sustainable farming practices, this innovative device is set to make a significant impact on the agricultural sector.
