
The city of Mumbai is gearing up for the third edition of ‘MumbaiHacks’, a Gen AI hackathon designed to elevate the city’s tech dominance and foster innovation with purpose. The event, organized by the Tech Entrepreneurs Association of Mumbai (TEAM) and Made in Mumbai, in partnership with NVIDIA, Meta, Quantiphi, and ATLAS SkillTech University, is set to be India’s largest Gen AI hackathon. It will take place at ATLAS SkillTech University in BKC, Mumbai, on October 25-26, 2024.
MumbaiHacks is poised to bring together over 2,000 developers to push the boundaries of technology and set new benchmarks in AI innovation. The hackathon will feature a distinguished jury of industry leaders including Siddharth Roy Kapur, Faye Dsouza, Aakrit Vaish, Naiyya Saggi, Vivek Khemani, Aakash Kumar, and many others.
The event will highlight four key tracks that reflect the most impactful opportunities in AI-driven transformation: Social Good, Finance, Entertainment, and Saas. Aakrit Vaish, Co-Chair of Tech Entrepreneurs Association of Mumbai (TEAM) and Advisor to the India AI Mission, expressed that MumbaiHacks aims to become the world’s largest Gen AI hackathon, fostering cutting-edge innovation and serving as a catalyst for the future of technology.
Moreover, the event is part of a broader initiative to position Mumbai as a global tech hub. This aligns with the continued efforts of TEAM, which has consistently pushed boundaries in cementing Mumbai’s status as a key player in the global AI landscape. TEAM is committed to democratizing the advancement of Gen AI innovation by bringing together not only engineers and developers but also key stakeholders from various sectors to ensure a holistic approach to AI innovation.
Adding to the excitement, Mumbai is set to host a landmark AI Week, including NVIDIA’s flagship AI Summit and the highly anticipated ‘MumbaiHacks’. This week is poised to firmly establish Mumbai as a key player in the global AI landscape.
Prominent companies such as Haptik, Fractal, Invideo, Gupshup, Quantiphi, Pepper Content, and others, who are members of the Tech Entrepreneurs Association of Mumbai, are shaping Mumbai’s reputation as a key hub in the global AI landscape, driving advancements across conversational AI, content creation, data analytics, and automation.
This initiative is not only a testament to Mumbai’s growing influence in the tech domain but also holds significant economic potential. According to an EY report, Gen AI could boost India’s GDP by $359-438 billion by 2030, representing a 5.9-7.2% increase, with the cumulative impact over seven years reaching $1.2-1.5 trillion. Various sectors, including business services, finance, transportation, education, retail, and healthcare, are expected to benefit significantly from this AI-driven transformation.
The AI-driven future is also emblematic of India’s potential to be a trillion-dollar digital economy.
