At the prestigious IInvenTiv-2024 event hosted by IIT Hyderabad, Union Education Minister DharmendraPradhan delivered a compelling speech highlighting India’s impressive ascent in the global innovation and technology arena. The event, a congregation of the brightest minds from the country’s top educational institutes, served as a platform for the Minister to underline India’s significant advancements in the field.
Minister Pradhan proudly referenced India’s remarkable journey on the Global Innovation Index, where the nation has soared from the 81st position in 2015 to an impressive 40th in 2023. This leap, as the Minister pointed out, is a clear indicator of India’s burgeoning profile as a global innovator and a testament to the nation’s consistent efforts in nurturing a culture of technological advancement and creative thinking.
The Minister also shed light on the pivotal role of emerging technologies in shaping Industry 4.0. He emphasized that India is not just participating in this industrial revolution but is at the forefront, leading with innovations and technological breakthroughs. This leadership is further exemplified by the explosive growth of India’s startup ecosystem, which has seen an unprecedented rise from about 350 startups in 2014 to over 1.2 lakh in 2023, including more than 100 unicorns. This growth, as Minister Pradhan noted, is a direct result of the visionary policies and drive of the Prime Minister, fostering an environment where innovation thrives.
