Maintaining and assuring the quality of life-saving medical devices is essential for healthcare delivery. Calibration plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy of medical instruments, enabling healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnoses and treatments. This mobile facility, a first of its kind in India, is designed to offer affordable and quality calibration services, enhancing disease diagnosis and treatment accuracy.
The mobile unit is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to test the safety and functionality of medical devices according to international standards. It will travel to various locations across the country, including remote villages, ensuring pervasive quality healthcare irrespective of geographical barriers.
This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3, which aims to ensure health and well-being for all. By bringing calibration services directly to healthcare facilities’ doorsteps, IIT Madras is contributing to advancing healthcare accessibility and quality in India.
