The city is buzzing with excitement as the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) laboratories in Hyderabad prepare to host the Startup Conclave 2025 on April 22-23. This important event aims to strengthen ties between research institutions and startups while promoting entrepreneurship across India.
The conclave will be organized by several renowned CSIR institutions, including the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI), and CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CSIR-CCMB).
During a recent meeting, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh praised the contributions of CSIR laboratories in various fields, such as drug discovery, genetic diagnostics, and the development of affordable Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). The minister highlighted how these institutions are pushing forward India’s chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
Dr. D Srinivasa Reddy, Director of CSIR-IICT, shared insights into the institute’s innovative research efforts. He mentioned their advancements in creating safer agrochemicals and breakthroughs in catalysis, which are essential for industrial processes like hydrogenation and oxidation.
The CSIR-IICT is also focusing on critical health issues, including tuberculosis and encephalitis. Furthermore, they have launched India’s first Rare Disease Registry, aiming to improve understanding of the genetic factors behind rare diseases.
CSIR-CCMB’s Atal Incubation Centre has made a significant impact by supporting over 160 biotech startups in areas such as healthcare, agriculture, and environmental sustainability. In addition to this, CSIR-CCMB plays an essential role in conservation science, leading genetic studies on endangered species and contributing to wildlife forensics efforts to prevent illegal poaching and trade.
The Startup Conclave 2025 is expected to bring together entrepreneurs, researchers, and industry leaders to explore new opportunities and collaborations, ultimately driving innovation and growth in India’s startup ecosystem.
