Surya Prakash Singh, a prominent scientist at the CSIR–Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), has been awarded the esteemed INSA Distinguished Lecture Fellowship for 2025 by the Indian National Science Academy (INSA). This recognition is particularly significant as Dr. Singh is both the first researcher from CSIR-IICT and the first from Hyderabad to receive this honor.
The INSA Distinguished Lecture Fellowship is awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to scientific research. Dr. Singh’s work focuses on innovative solar technologies. He leads a research group dedicated to enhancing the efficiency of next-generation solar cells, including dye-sensitized, organic, and perovskite solar cells. His efforts aim to make solar energy more effective and widely used.
In addition to his work on solar technology, Dr. Singh has made remarkable progress in developing neutral, non-toxic, and highly fluorescent ‘Bodipy’ dyes. These dyes are vital for mitochondrial imaging in biological systems, providing a valuable tool for researchers in the field of biology.
The award is a landmark moment not only for Dr. Singh but also for CSIR-IICT and the wider scientific community in Hyderabad. It highlights the increasing importance of scientific research in India and promotes the spread of knowledge that can benefit society at large.
As the scientific community in Hyderabad celebrates this achievement, it also symbolizes the potential for future innovations in renewable energy and medical research. Dr. Singh’s distinguished fellowship serves as an inspiration for young scientists and researchers to strive for excellence in their scientific pursuits.
