After a short break, the cold wave has made a comeback, bringing chilly weather to Hyderabad and parts of Telangana. Between Wednesday evening and Thursday night, the minimum temperatures plunged by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius, sending shivers across the state.
Several areas in Hyderabad and its neighboring districts reported single-digit temperatures. Regions like Moinabad and Ibrahimpatnam in Rangareddy district, along with parts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Kamareddy, and Sangareddy districts, experienced some of the coldest nights of the season.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, predicts that the cold wave conditions will likely persist for another day or two before temperatures start rising again.
In its forecast, the IMD stated: “Minimum temperatures are expected to remain normal for the next three days. After that, a drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius below normal is likely. Dry weather conditions will prevail, with misty or hazy mornings in isolated areas of Telangana over the next five days.”

On Thursday morning, several areas in and around Hyderabad reported frigid temperatures. Here are the coldest places in the city:
- Moinabad (Rangareddy): 8.5°C
- Ibrahimpatnam (Rangareddy): 9.3°C
- University of Hyderabad campus: 9.7°C
- Moula Ali (Uppal area): 10.1°C
- Rajendranagar: 10.2°C
- BHEL Factory (Ramachandrapuram): 10.4°C
- Gachibowli: 11.2°C
Telangana’s Top Cold Spots
Several districts outside Hyderabad recorded even lower temperatures, with some areas dipping below 6°C. The top cold spots in Telangana on Thursday morning include:
- Bela (Adilabad): 5.9°C
- Sirpur (Komaram Bheem Asifabad): 6.1°C
- Tiryani (Komaram Bheem Asifabad): 6.1°C
- Chaprala (Adilabad): 6.7°C
- Kohir (Sangareddy): 6.9°C
- Dongli (Kamareddy): 7.3°C
With the cold wave expected to last for a couple more days, residents are advised to take precautions, especially during the early morning and late-night hours. Warmer clothing and staying indoors during the coldest parts of the day can help in dealing with the biting temperatures.
As the cold snap continues, Telangana braces for more frosty mornings before temperatures gradually climb back to normal levels.
