Brookfield Ametek returns to Smart Labtech’s booth this year with a range that has grown substantially since the company’s last analytica appearance — extending well past the viscometer line into rheology, texture analysis, powder flow, toxic-gas detection and chemical-free moisture analysis, all instruments that share a common thread of measuring how materials behave under stress, heat or handling.
At the rheometer end, the DVNext Rheometer is built for regulated environments — 21 CFR Part 11 compliant, with digital levelling, direct LIMS connectivity, and a gel-timer function for materials that cure or set during measurement. The more general-purpose DV2Plus brings a 7-inch full-colour touchscreen, a guided viscosity wizard for test setup, and optional Bluetooth connectivity, while the DVNext Cone/Plate variant is purpose-built for small sample volumes with a defined shear rate and electronic gap adjustment. The DVPlus sits at the entry level with a 5-inch display and real-time test indicator, and the classic Dial Reading Viscometer — still marketed as “the original that set the world standard” — remains available for labs that prefer its straightforward, no-frills operation.
Two instruments target specific industries directly: the CAP 2000+, built for paints and coatings with a broad shear rate range and Peltier temperature control, and the KU-3 Viscometer, ASTM D562 compatible and displaying results directly in Krebs units, grams or centipoise for paints, coatings, inks and pastes — sized to accommodate standard pint, half-pint and quart cans without decanting.
For continuous production monitoring rather than bench testing, the range extends to inline instruments: the FAST Viscometer, described as a rugged, maintenance-free inline unit, and the VTE Electric Viscosel, purpose-built for paints and coatings in process. The rheometer line adds four RS-series variants — the RSO for full-featured oscillatory work, the RSX Cone Plate for small or difficult-to-clean samples, the RSX Soft Solid Tester for pastes and slurries with particulates, and the RSX Coaxial Cylinder for volatile samples requiring superior viscosity profiling.
Texture measurement is covered by the CTX, a full-featured analyzer with interchangeable load cells and a set of application-specific fixtures — dual extrusion cells for spreadability testing, a cutting-test fixture, and a three-point bend fixture — alongside the more economical CT3 for straightforward compression and tensile testing.
Two instruments extend the booth’s reach beyond viscosity entirely. The Jerome® J505 and J405 toxic gas analyzers use hand-held atomic fluorescence spectroscopy and gold-film detection respectively to measure mercury vapor in workplace air, addressing occupational hygiene and environmental safety requirements under WHO, OSHA, NIOSH and ACGIH guidelines. And the Computrac® moisture analyzer line — the Vapor Pro XL, its autosampler variant, the MAX 4000XL and the MAX 5000XL — performs loss-on-drying and ash determination without chemical reagents, running up to 675°C for the highest-temperature model.
Supporting the core instruments, Brookfield Ametek’s water bath and viscosity-standard fluids round out the display, alongside accessories including the Helipath Quick Action Stand for non-flowing gels and pastes and a DIN-compliant small-volume adapter for low-viscosity materials.
It is, in effect, a full materials-characterization bench in a single booth section — worth a longer stop for any visitor whose lab handles fluids, semi-solids or powders as part of quality control.
Brookfield Ametek’s instruments will be on display at Smart Labtech’s booth, Hall-1 C-01, HITEX Hyderabad, September 10–12.
