In a significant move for the National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), Brijendra Pratap Singh assumed the role of Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) on January 8, 2025. With over 35 years of extensive experience in the mining and steel sectors, Singh is poised to lead NALCO through its next phase of expansion and modernization.
Strategic Vision & Industry Expertise
Brijendra Pratap Singh’s resume is a testament to his profound expertise in the steel industry. A graduate in Mining Machinery Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dhanbad, Singh has spent the majority of his career at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). Prior to taking the helm at NALCO, he served as the Director-in-Charge of Burnpur and Durgapur Steel Plants and was also a member of SAIL’s Board, where he was instrumental in driving modernization efforts across the organization.
Having begun his career in 1989 at the Bhilai Steel Plant, Singh has gained invaluable experience across various operational and leadership roles at several integrated steel plants, including Bokaro Steel Ltd, Durgapur Steel Plant, and IISCO Steel Plant. His multifaceted expertise encompasses critical areas such as mining, blast furnace operations, sinter plant management, maintenance, and overall plant operations.
Vision for NALCO’s Growth
The arrival of Singh at NALCO comes at a crucial juncture, as the company looks to bolster its expansion programs and embark on new projects aimed at enhancing productivity and sustainability.
