South Korean technology giant Naver has announced its groundbreaking initiative to introduce the world’s first web platform-based robot operating system (OS). The revelation will take place at the ‘LEAP 2024′ event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Naver will be in the company of global tech heavyweights like Google, Apple, Meta Platforms, and AWS.

Naver’s innovation, dubbed the “ARC mind powered by Whale OS,” is designed to revolutionize the field of robotics by providing developers worldwide with a platform to create diverse robot services. This novel OS facilitates the seamless integration of existing applications with robot services and incorporates a web application programming interface for efficient control, cognition, and movement of robots, as reported by Yonhap news agency.

The ARC mind, distinguished for its superior speed and lightweight design compared to traditional robot OSs, will initially be integrated into Naver’s own robots. The company envisions the subsequent development of an open ecosystem, fostering collaboration and innovation in the global robotics community.

In addition to the groundbreaking OS, Naver is set to unveil a cutting-edge robot platform developed in collaboration with Samsung Electronics during the LEAP 2024 event. This joint effort has resulted in the creation of a next-generation robotics edge computing platform, leveraging Naver’s OS and software solutions along with Samsung’s semiconductor expertise, encompassing system-on-chip technology and image sensors.

As Naver takes a giant leap forward in the field of robotics, the unveiling of the ARC mind and the collaborative project with Samsung Electronics marks a significant stride towards advancing the capabilities and possibilities within the realm of robotics technology.
