Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based start-up, WiSig Networks Private Limited, emerged from IIT-Hyderabad’s business incubator in 2016, introducing cutting-edge wireless networks technology. Boasting a remarkable collection of 5G patents, including Standard Essential Patents (SEPs), the company declared its commitment to promoting innovation and worldwide 5G adoption on Wednesday.
In a bid to facilitate seamless integration and utilization of 5G innovations across industries, WiSig Networks revealed its plan to license its valuable patents to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) both in India and internationally. By adopting the Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory (FRAND) approach, the company seeks to provide a level playing field for OEMs to create state-of-the-art products without undue burdens while respecting intellectual property rights.
“Our mission is to accelerate the advancement of 5G technology and support OEMs in delivering innovative, high-quality networks, devices, and solutions globally. We firmly believe in fairness, reasonableness, and non-discrimination. By licensing our 5G patents on FRAND terms, we are striving to foster an ecosystem where technology companies can collaborate, compete, and thrive,” stated Dr. Kiran Kuchi, Founder at WiSig Networks.
WiSig Networks’ extensive portfolio of 5G patents includes critical Standard Essential Patents that form the backbone of 5G technology implementation. The patents have been the result of rigorous research and development, rendering them indispensable for the seamless functioning of 5G networks.
Through its FRAND licensing strategy, WiSig Networks aims to offer OEMs the opportunity to utilize its 5G patents in their products and services without facing unreasonable barriers or exorbitant licensing fees. The goal of promoting openness and fairness is to cultivate an environment that encourages innovation and facilitates the widespread adoption of 5G technology.
In its endeavor to build a collaborative 5G ecosystem, WiSig Networks has extended an invitation to OEMs for constructive discussions on potential licensing opportunities. The company is dedicated to transparent and flexible negotiations, ensuring mutual benefits while propelling the global 5G landscape forward.
WiSig Networks is resolute in its pursuit of driving innovation and contributing significantly to the advancement of technology, products, and patents in the realms of 5G-Advanced and IMT2030 (6G). The company aligns with the government of India’s vision for 6G, aiming to bridge the gap in e-service availability, accessibility, and affordability between rural and urban India. Furthermore, WiSig Networks remains committed to IMT2030 goals, such as ubiquitous communication, universal availability of ultra-fast, low-latency hyper-connectivity, sustainability, and empowering industries to unlock the full potential of sensor and connectivity-driven applications like Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous vehicles, augmented reality, and more.
