In a remarkable stride towards sustainable transport infrastructure, Veera Vahana has unveiled the Veera Mahasamrat EV, heralded as the world’s fastest-charging electric bus. This remarkable innovation is a product of a strategic partnership between Veera Vahana and Bengaluru-based energy technology firm, Exponent Energy.
At the core of this pioneering electric bus, measuring an impressive 13.5 meters, is Exponent Energy’s formidable 320 kWh battery pack, which seamlessly integrates with the revolutionary 1 MW rapid charging technology. This seamless fusion enables the Veera Mahasamrat EV to achieve a complete charge in an astonishing 15 minutes, setting an unprecedented benchmark in the industry.
Technologically & Economically ahead
The Veera Mahasamrat EV is not only a testament to cutting-edge technology but also a strategic move to alleviate operational costs, aiming to achieve up to a 30% reduction in comparison to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) buses. This innovation is further bolstered by an exceptional battery warranty, offering a lifespan of 600,000 km or 3,000 life cycles, alongside diverse financing options.
Moreover, the bus features an advanced Battery Management System (BMS) that meticulously monitors the health of each cell, ensuring optimal performance and longevity. Additionally, the cutting-edge charging station is equipped with an off-board thermal management system, actively maintaining an optimal temperature for the battery during charging, allowing the bus to function reliably even in extreme temperatures, up to 50 degrees Celsius.
The strategic deployment of the Veera Mahasamrat EV commences with its introduction on the Bengaluru-Hyderabad route, facilitated by the establishment of four strategically placed 1 MW charging stations by Exponent Energy, ensuring seamless operations and minimal downtime. This strategic positioning mirrors the typical stops made by diesel buses every 300 km for a 15-20 minute break, thus seamlessly integrating with existing operational schedules.
