A Confluence of Academia and Industry

The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) is poised to host the second edition of the Ministry of Education’s prestigious event, IInvenTiv 2024, on January 19 and 20, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of higher education and research in India. The event promises to be a grand showcase of the top 120 innovative projects from India’s leading higher education institutions.

Set against the backdrop of technological evolution and a push for sustainable development, IInvenTiv 2024 will focus on five critical domains: affordable healthcare, agriculture and food processing, sustainable technologies (including climate change, e-mobility, and clean energy), defence, and Industry 4.0. These areas represent the cornerstone of collaborative development, aligning with national objectives for grassroots innovation and technological self-reliance.

The event will feature an illustrious lineup of participants, including the 23 IITs and other prominent institutions like NITs, IISERs, IIITs, and IISc Bangalore. The inclusion of the top 50 NIRF-ranked engineering institutions further underscores the event’s commitment to fostering a broad spectrum of academic excellence and innovation. The selected projects will be displayed in designated booths, offering a glimpse into the future of Indian technology and research.

Dr. B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, Chairman of the IInvenTiv 2024 Steering Committee, emphasized the critical role of academia-industry collaboration. He noted that such synergy is essential to capitalize on research endeavors and facilitate industrial investments. This collaboration is not just about technological advancement but also about nurturing an ecosystem conducive to innovation and practical problem-solving.

Prof. B.S. Murty, Director of IITH, expressed his enthusiasm for hosting this inclusive event. He highlighted the participation of an additional 30 institutes, illustrating the expanding landscape of Indian innovation. According to Prof. Murty, IInvenTiv 2024 is more than an exhibition; it’s a platform for exchanging ideas, sharing knowledge, and forging partnerships that transcend traditional academic boundaries.

The event, which will open its doors to the public on the second day, offers a unique opportunity for enthusiasts, students, and professionals to witness firsthand the cutting-edge innovations shaping India’s future. With over 2000 industry participants expected to attend, the event is set to be a melting pot of ideas and collaborations, furthering the advancement of technology and research.

IInvenTiv 2024 is not just a fair; it’s a testament to India’s burgeoning role as a global leader in technology and innovation. It aligns with the government’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat and reflects the ethos of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, fostering an environment that is ripe for discovery and growth. As the nation watches, IITH is ready to unveil a new chapter in India’s journey towards technological excellence and innovation.
