Dr. V. Prasada Raju, a distinguished figure in the pharmaceutical industry, currently serves as the Managing Director of Suven Pharma since September, 2023. He is also the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Cohance. Appointed as the Whole-Time Director and CEO of Cohance on November 1, 2020, he assumed the role of Managing Director and CEO on March 10, 2021. Dr. Raju’s responsibilities encompass the overall business operations of the companies.
Dr. Raju’s academic credentials are impressive. He holds a PhD in Chemistry and a Postgraduate Diploma in Patent Law. Further enhancing his expertise, he is an alumnus of the Senior Management Programme at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC), and the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Chicago, USA, where he received training in Material Sciences.
His career trajectory demonstrates a passion for innovation.With over 28 years of techno-commercial experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Raju has held various leadership roles at Granules India Limited and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories. His vast experience spans across the entire value chain of the pharmaceutical industry.
At Granules India Ltd, Dr. Raju served as an Executive Director, where he was instrumental in driving growth strategy, managing product portfolio, overseeing scientific affairs, regulatory affairs, intellectual property, and spearheading new business initiatives. He led and built R&D and greenfield projects, demonstrating his leadership and project management skills. He also served on the Boards of Granules Omnichem Pvt Ltd (India), Granules Pharmaceuticals Inc. (USA), and USpharma Ltd (USA). His tenure at Granules, from 2012 to 2019, was his second professional assignment.
Prior to Granules, Dr. Raju served as a Director of Project Management at the Integrated Product Development Organization of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories. His role included providing technical, strategic, and operational leadership across various disciplines of the pharmaceutical industry, a testament to his 17+ years of techno-commercial experience.His expertise spans the pharmaceutical value chain, including R&D, regulatory affairs, intellectual property, and new business development.
