Government agreement with the Center and IIT Madras
The state government will implement the skill training program “SWAYAM’, which is being jointly implemented by the Central Government and IIT Madras.
To this end, the State Skill Development Corporation and the Higher Education Council have recently signed an agreement with the Center and IIT Madras. According to this, IIT Madras professors will train teachers to enhance the skills of engineering students in the state in 72 types of courses. Students will also be provided with direct training online.
Through this training program, which will last for one semester, engineering students will get additional credits and IIT Madras will issue certificates. Along with software courses, training will be provided in mechanical, civil and other fields.
Officials say that by acquiring the necessary skills before the student completes his studies, he will be able to get a job immediately. Along with the quality of the training, the certificate issued by IIT Madras will also have value, and it is being expressed that it will be of great benefit.
IIT Madras, one of the premier institutions in technology research in India, has decided to work with the state govt to train graduate and undergraduate students as per industry needs, conduct advanced research, and engage in socially beneficial activities. A delegation from IIT Madras held discussions with chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The delegation also visited the real time governance (RTG) centre located in the chief minister’s office.
Earlier this year as part of its plans to transform capital Amaravati into an international city, Andhra Pradesh govt has entered into eight different agreements with IIT Madras (IITM) for technology support in research and in setting up of various institutions. Key agreements were signed in the evening by officials of the state govt and representatives of IIT Madras in the presence of IT and HRD minister Nara Lokesh.
